Overview

Dip is an event-sharing platform that helps coworkers build stronger connections by exploring local activities together with exclusive perks and incentives. Created during XHacks, a hackathon themed "Reimagining Human Connection in the Digital Age," this project addresses workplace isolation by making team bonding more accessible and engaging.

Problem Space

How might we make connecting and staying engaged in team bonding events convenient and rewarding for coworkers?

01 Main App Features

Something new to participate in each week

Weekly themes will suggest activities to users, creating anticipation and excitement within the community. Discounts and perks in that weeks themes can motivate users to participate in them.

All of the event details you need in a few screens

Events will have their own page where users can see details, such as descriptions, participants, and a chat exclusive to that event.

Share and look back on memories

Past event pages stores photos contributed by its participants. Users can look back on events and see uploaded photos.

See your current and past events and customize your interests

The My Events page stores planned and completed events that users can refer to. Users can input their interests so that events can be recommended to them.

02 Background & Research

Collecting Survey Results

With 21 responses, we conducted a survey asking employees about their experiences, priorities, opinions, and motivations on current company bonding initiatives.

Comparative Analysis

We analyzed platforms like Meetup and Eventbrite, which focus on public events rather than workplace bonding, Bonusly, which rewards peer recognition over participation, and Microsoft Viva Engage, which emphasizes digital interactions.

Reflection

This was my first ever design hackathon project and I was really proud with how it turned out. I worked with an incredible team to make this happen. Alhtought, we didn't place, I think I learned alot from this hackathon and my peers.

The next steps would to gather more user testing, design for cross platform and for the business/company end, and develop features that would help with integrate this product into existing work ecosystems.
